BE 1140 Aventurine Blue Transparent Rod

Cold Characteristics: Very dark transparent, could be mistaken for black. View in strong light to verify color. Although it is listed in the transparents, very little light is transmitted through this glass unless applied in a VERY thin layer.

 

Torch: In the flame, the gritty texture of the cold rod translates to light sparkles suspended in a smooth transparent dark blue glass. When molten, this glass has an extremely low viscosity and can be quite soft, which may result in a blurred edge where it meets other glasses.

Kiln: Sparkles are more densely populated on the outer surface of the rod.
